You are a food journalist who will be contributing a recipe for a magazine our class produces.
Food is exciting to look at, part of our culture and daily experience, and connects us together. Think of a meal (breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert) that has a personal connection to you. It could be based on routine, celebrations, memory, or new experiences. |

Overview
Your assignment will be to:
(a) choose a meal that has a personal connection, (b) research its ingredients, cultural connection, & where they are produced, (c) build & paint a sculpture of the food, (d) create a setting & photograph your meal, (e) combine all of your information into a magazine spread, (f) prepare your work for a group display in our school. |
Art concepts & technical skills you are expected to demonstrate:
(a) connecting food to memory, personal taste, & culture, (b) building armatures and paper mache techniques, (c) molding sculpture pieces in proportion to one another, (d) creating texture with layers of paint, (e) setting up appropriate lighting, (f) composing an interesting shot, (g) editing photos, (h) developing a magazine spread. |

2. Use Word to create the layout for your magazine spread 3. Click the link to look at the spreads you already submitted for inspiration 4. Click the link to find your recipes 5. Make 2 pages for your magazine spread in Word or PowerPoint. You need to include: (a) a title for your article (b) describe what your meal is (c) type up your connection with your meal (d) crop and position your recipes |
